229. New Vallarta Ferry Links Puerto Vallarta to Yelapa

On January 8, 2026, the “Playa del Carmen” ferry, known as the Vallarta Ferry, was officially inaugurated, providing a modern maritime transportation option in Banderas Bay. With a capacity for 400 passengers and a design prioritizing comfort and safety, the ferry features air conditioning and three powerful engines.

This service connects key points such as Puerto Mágico, Los Muertos Pier, and Yelapa, with crossings taking approximately an hour and a half. It currently operates three times a week: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with fares set at $990 pesos for adults and $500 pesos for children aged 4 to 11. During January, a promotional fare of $600 pesos for two adults and $300 pesos for two children is available.

The inauguration ceremony was led by Jalisco Secretary of Tourism Michelle Fridman and ferry owner Miguel Tejeda, who also announced plans to implement subsidized fares for local residents. Looking ahead, a second phase is planned to expand the maritime connectivity network, further enhancing the tourist experience in Puerto Vallarta and supporting responsible tourism.
