Municipal president Luis Ernesto Munguía González said that although they will monitor budget item 1000 (Personal Services), their priority is public works. The 2026 budget is projected at 3,101,869,000 pesos, of which 1,406,943,000 pesos are allocated to salaries, stipends, social security and employee benefits. For public investment (chapter 6000) 104,330,000 pesos were budgeted, but the municipality expects to raise total public works spending—combining municipal, state, private resources and loans—to more than 600 million pesos this year.
Planned works include widening México and Federación avenues northward (toward the Ixtapa delegation), construction and reconstruction of stretches in neighborhoods such as El Mangal, San Esteban, Palma Real, San Nicolás, Cañadas, Villa de Guadalupe, Jardines, Ramblases and Santa María, as well as larger projects like the Civil Hospital (estimated between 400 and 800 million in its first phase), 200 million for the La Bobadilla sports complex, an autism clinic (≈30 million), and the Las Peñas pier project. Rehabilitation of Isla del Río Cuale, a lookout point and façade maintenance in the Historic Center are also planned. Munguía said more than 150 million has already been set aside in the budget and that public investment and financing will be used to cover additional needs.
